Waid Quarter Horses is a family run horse ranch in Helena, Montana. It is owned and operated by Larry, Becky, & Trey Waid. We raise Quarter Horses for the performance arena- Team Roping, Ranch versatility, reined cowhorse, & barrel racing. We stand two stallions Im a Son of a Tuck and Chips Tic Tac. Becky & Trey also have developed a love for raising Mini Aussies. We currently have 1 litter a year out of Waid’s Miss Minnie Mite and Waid’s Ropin Bear. Im a Son Of A Tuck “Nevada” as we call him is a 2003, 14.3 H 1100 lbs, bay quarter horse stallion. His bloodlines are the perfect combination of cow horse lines meeting race horse bloodlines. With the infamous Doc Tom Tucker & Cal Bar and the outstanding race horses Depth Charge & Joe Reed gracing his pedigree, Nevada shows cow sense & he can run. Chips Tic Tac Tic Tac is a 14.3 H 1150 lbs Black stallion. Tic Tac is an intensely bred Driftwood stallion with Drifts Chip on the top & bottom of his pedigree. People like Sherry Cervi, & Corey Petska are two of the present day riders that have been taken to the pay window on a Driftwood horse. Program
Our program in raising quarter horses is to produce horses that have good bone & fee, that stand 14.3 and weigh about 1100-1200 lbs. They also need to have an excellent disposition. Our other focus is on crossing the right genetics to have the cow sense and the run. With this in mind we cross Im a Son of A Tuck and Chips Tic Tac on our mares with bloodlines including Leo, Joe Reed, Sugar Bars, Doc Bar, Zan Par Bar, Joe Cody, Two Eyed Jack, & Tiny Charger to name a few. These crosses have produced colts with great conformation & dispositions. These colts will & are performing in ranch versatility, roping, barrel racing, reined cow horse, & there are 2 colts that will be performing in the dressage arena.
Becky & Trey’s love of dogs have also produced a Mini Aussie breeding program. We have 1 male –Bear, a red tri mini aussie that stands 17” tall and one female Minnie that is a red merle and stands 13” tall. We currently produce 1 litter per year.
